Case Study for and IT, Telecoms and Office Interiors Upgrade Project

The Organisation

Established in 1980, JSB Group Ltd work with leading businesses in Europe, Asia Pacific and the Americas to enable and sustain people and organisational performance.
Through learning, development and organisational consulting services, they deliver solutions for more than 100 clients annually. JSB is also a market leader in providing training courses and webinars designed for HR professionals with strategic and global responsibilities.

JSB employs approximately 40 staff – a significant number of whom are remote/mobile workers.

Many of the office-based staff support a network of ‘associates’; producing training materials and presentations as well as carrying out a range of other tasks involved with running training courses supporting the business.

The Challenge

The company was referred to First Office Systems by another company in their building.

They wanted to review their overall IT, communications and technology and office environment to make it a more efficient, up-to-date space that supports collaborative working.

Indeed, some of the technology was no longer supported and presented potential vulnerabilities.

Their office space had grown piecemeal over the years and was therefore in need of some a complete re-think.

Indeed, JSB Group was looking for a wholesale review and transformation – a large undertaking.

The Solution

A complete audit and review of the IT and communications was completed. This included, but was not limited to telephony, the comms area, server upgrade to a new virtualised environment using Vmware, anti-virus, back-up, LAN switches, firewall and remote access, retention of existing database (still requiring unsupported Windows XP) etc.

The MS Exchange server was migrated to Hosted Exchange and users migrated to Office 365 with new desk-top PC’s and lap-tops.

A new faster Fibre Ethernet internet connection was installed for email/browsing and the office was also cabled using a Cat6 structured cabling system.

The new internet connection was converged so that they could use one connection for both voice and data.

The ISDN and ageing Toshiba telephone system were upgraded and the numbers ported to a new Hosted Telephony system with all numbers retained.

At the same time, new Samsung Android devices and Mobile Apps were issued to critical members of staff, again with full retention of numbers - all delivered on one bill by one supplier – First Office Systems.

The office was completely re-designed and space planned with new partitioning, furniture, floor and wall coverings, a tea-point, air conditioning, ceiling, lighting and electrical work and Audio Visual. This was phased as all staff had to remain within the office space continuing to work.


The Result

One bill, one supplier…..one great set up! And installed, supported, managed and maintained by First Office Systems.
