Medium sized Telephone Systems - 10-50 users

If you are an organisation with between 10 and 50 users, we have listed here some natural options for you to consider with indicative pricing and justifications on why we are making such recommendations.

Our recommendation would depend on whether all your users are based on one site or spread across two or more sites. For a business with multiple sites, there is no simple answer and we thoroughly recommend an exploratory meeting with you.

Therefore, this web page assumes all your users are on a single site.

See our separate pages on relocation, cabling, lines, calls mobiles and internet connections.

Hosted system

In our opinion, in most scenarios a hosted system is not suited to an office with more than 10 users (although in some circumstances, it may be).

Traditional premises-based system

We would normally recommend a traditional system in the sense that there is a main control unit installed in your premises.

With a traditional system, there would be upfront hardware costs (unless we provided one on a lease rental or 0% finance agreement). Approximate costs for a 20 user system would be between £4,000 and £6,000 or £132 and £198 per month respectively which would include handsets, voicemail and installation and training. Naturally, the more users you have to accommodate, the more your system will cost!

We would have to install some phone lines for you and these would have an additional cost (4 x ISDN2e channels would cost £498 installation plus £50 per month – naturally 8 lines would cost double that). There are common options that are extra such as Direct Dial facilities and caller ID which carry a small extra charge. For 20 users or more, we may recommend ISDN30 and not ISDN2e. We often also recommend SIP rather than ISDN depending on circumstances.

For this size of system, we may recommend an AVAYA IP Office system or a Mitel MiVoice Office or MiVoice Business system. Which system we recommend depends on the initial and possible future requirements of your business.

We can also arrange all of your voice and data network services – indeed, we may suggest just one connection for your internet, email and voice where appropriate.

What our customers say...

"We've been customers of First Office for many years and have always been happy with their helpfulness, speed, knowledge and price. Last night they excelled themselves however: at 7.10pm our very old phone system's main unit died meaning we were faced with the prospect of 35 phone sales guys unable to do any work today. Unsurprisingly at that time no one was still in the office at First Office and so I emailed technical support giving a full rundown of the symptoms and my amateur diagnosis; a director of the firm called me at 8pm to say he'd been passed the message and an engineer had already been booked to attend site at 8.15am today. This morning I was stuck in traffic and didn't arrive until 8.35am by which time the engineer had turned up, fitted a whole new unit, reprogrammed and tested it and had already left ! Frankly, phenomenal !"
