Telecommunications in depth
Network services
When installing a new system, it is essential to have a detailed network services plan. Network services include; telephone lines (both analogue and digital), leased lines, private circuits (for networking offices and remote workers) and broadband connections.
First Office Systems are partners with BT, COLT, Verizon and Telstra, and can match your networking requirements with one or more of these providers. Options include wholesale line rental – where line rental and call costs are provided by a single company.
Telecoms in the UK is continuously changing, with many new carriers and resellers entering the market offering poor levels of service. This is an area where First Office Systems’ experience is invaluable, ensuring that errors and potential losses to your business are avoided.
Telephony application software
Most telephone systems can now provide extra functionality by ‘talking’ to your computer networks. This is referred to as Computer Telephony Integration (CTI). Enhanced functionality, for example, allows users to forward calls to their mobile. In some cases remote sites and home workers can utilise free or low-cost software without the need for telephone systems.
Typical application software includes:
Integration of e-mails and voicemails
Number recognition and database ‘screen pops’
Call management, real time and historic
Voice & Data Cabling
As today's communication networks become more complex and more users need to communicate, there is a greater need for faster access and ease of use.
The first step is the installation of well-designed, Structured Cabling. This allows for easy administration of personnel moves, device moves and device changes, ensuring flexibility throughout the office.
Today's cabling systems are designed to support voice (telephone), data (computers) and video (security systems), as well as many other communication devices. The ability of a network to run any application to any work area, depends on proper planning and installation.
At First Office Systems, all of our cabling solutions are planned and installed to the highest standards by fully trained technical staff. On completion, each installation is tested with the very latest equipment and a performance report and guarantee are provided.
Telephone Systems
The telephone is often the easiest way to reach your clients and colleagues. It should also be the easiest way for them to reach you. Important business callers should never be routed incorrectly, disconnected or faced with bewildering automated options.
Today's sophisticated multi-line systems can answer, sort, automatically distribute and save calls. They can merge voice mail, e-mail, and faxes into a single 'inbox'; connect credit card readers, modems, cordless and wireless phones. They can even automatically connect calls to users working remotely from home.
Voicemail and Call Recording
A voicemail system allows callers to leave voice messages in individual mailboxes when your staff are unable to answer the call. Messages can then be retrieved either internally or externally.
Call recording allows the recording of telephone conversations for playback and analysis. Conversations are recorded to a storage medium, often a hard disk on a PC or network device. There are many industries that benefit from voice recording, e.g. solicitors, call centres, doctors, insurance brokers and accountancy firms.
